Dušan Bavdek (Slovenia, 1971) is a professor of composition and music theory as well as the Vice-Dean for International Affairs and Quality at the Academy of Music of the University of Ljubljana.

His compositional opus encompasses pieces for symphony orchestra, string orchestra, wind orchestra, music theatre, ensemble, chamber groups, and soloistic performance. They have been presented as a part of subscription cycles of Slovenian orchestras, choirs, music theatres, and at concerts in Europe, America, Asia and Australia, such as ISCM World Music Days (Hong Kong, Sydney, Ljubljana), UNESCO International Composers' Tribune (Paris), Six Continents Project (Amsterdam), Ode to Europe of the Warsaw Chamber Opera, at the 100 Years of the ÖKB Festival (Vienna), Leading European Composers of the Washington Phillips Collection, etc.

He has led many compositional workshops, lectured at various music academies (Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, Liszt Academy Budapest, George Washington University, Iceland Academy of Arts Reykjavik, MA Zagreb, 'Jacopo Tomadini' Udine, 'Agostino Steffani' Castelfranco, 'Alfredo Casella' L'Aquila, etc.) and acted as a jury member of competitions in composition in Slovenia, Great Britain, Austria, Sweden, Italy, Macedonia, Serbia, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Croatia.

The wide variety of positions he has held include the Head of the Department of Composition and Music Theory at the Ljubljana Academy; President of the National Matura Commission for Music; Board Member of the European Composers Forum (ECF) and European Composers and Songwriters Alliance (ECSA) — and he is still active as a member of the Working Group for ECCO (European Contemporary Composers' Orchestra which operates under ECSA) and Artistic Leader of International Activities of the Society of Slovene Composers.
